Ring of Kerry

Day Three

IMG_0593.jpg

I guess the third time (day) really is the charm. I'm starting to get the hang of this traveling thing. Today was the first day I wasn't jet-lagging and I met some other hostel-goers and we left Killarney for the Ring of Kerry to see a very different Ireland than Dublin. Really amazing. Only wished the fog had cleared for Skellig. Check out the pictures on my other blog. They say more than I can right now (I'm exhausted!).

Oh, and in Killarney, wich seems to be a very popular destination for middle-aged Americans, I heard a man (American) yelling on the street to his wife (who granted was complaining about something) "You bitch more than anyone I know!" Haha.. I think I'll start up a quote of the day. There's my first.

Out to the big green open...

To Killarney

IMG_0569.jpgToday I left Dublin and traveled by bus to Killarney in County Kerry. It is beautiful country filled with green rolling hills, crumbling stone castles, villages with little curving streets. IMG_0554.jpg

And She's Off...

IMG_461.jpg

So I did it! It only took 28 years, but I've officially left the country! I touched down in Dublin this morning after a long day of last minute packing and running about. Ireland was a patchwork quilt of green from the sky and it surprised me how bald the land is.

It also surprised me how Dublin didn't seem like a foreign land, a nice city and easy to navigate. On a side note, New Yorkers have nothing on the walking speed of Dubliners...they were in mad rushes all about the city today. Funny, I suppose I can sympathize with the tourists in Time Square now. Though I'm sure I'M nowhere near as annoying!

Well it has indeed been a long day, up for 24hrs straight. It's time to get some rest before exploring this fine country tomorrow!

Can't wait to get to the countryside!
